In which I indulge in frivolous pleasures

There is much joy in good food.
The wonderful people who run the FoodCents program at Red Cross held a Ready-Steady-Cook-style challenge at lunchtime today, in which teams were assembled with various ingredients, with the aim of producing the tastiest dish. Much fun and feasting did ensue, with everyone partaking in delicious food.
This put me in mind of an idea I have harboured for quite a while, of holding dinner parties where everyone brings a food item, and a surprise dinner is made with the ingredients people bring along. I would like to plan one of these at some stage in the near future, and would like to get an idea of who would be interested in coming along. Please comment if you would like to be in it, or if you have ideas or suggestions!
While on the subject of food, dinner will be very simple for me tonight. Went into Woolworths with the intention of buying a few things, then promptly went out again after deciding there was no way I would be out before it got dark - that is, I shoved, elbowed and 'excuse me'd my way out through the wall-to-wall shoppers.
Oh, for Sydney's shopping hours...
