In which I comment on the beginning of my year

Beginning with a somewhat brighter outlook than this time last year.

For one thing, I'm not facing the prospect of imminent unemployment. japester and I seem to be getting along pretty well, rather than splitting up. I'm no longer drowning my sorrows (and everything else along with them) in large measures of alcohol. I'm writing again, having relocated my inspiration. I have UWA library membership, which is one toe onto the ladder of achieving my PhD.

So far so good.
