In which I think well upon where I'm at
Oct. 5th, 2006 11:20 amNow I think I'm sufficiently recovered from the weekend to post some thoughts about same.
I went into it not thinking to enjoy it much. I thought of all the other things that need to be done (such as taming my house) that I could have been using the long weekend for.
And yet, I had a good time. Many things happened, and there was scarcely a moment when I was not happily busy with something. Lachlahn and I ran a total of eight sessions of court, and most of them went well. We did manage to bollocks up the presentation court rather royally, but the lessons learned there will stand us in good stead for conducting future ceremonies. It was only on the Sunday night that I realised this was the first event in which we had presided over court. So all things considered, I think we did pretty well.
Being a dry site, there was no drunken carousing, but there was singing, music and poetry around the campfire on two of the nights. It seemed all the more genuine for the lack of alcohol. Everyone participated and much fun was had by all. There is a lot of raw and cultivated talent in the barony, many accomplished and promising performers.
The downside of the weekend was that it was the longest I have gone without speaking to my love since he departed for eastern shores. I did miss him immensely. Even when I was enjoying the event, there was still an empty space where he should have been, sharing the fun with me.
Had I gone to Fandomedia, I would certainly have had a thing or two to say about Hunger.
Just over a week, now, and I shall have him in arm's reach again. And this seems as good an opportunity as any to advertise the October Party -
It shall be held on Saturday, October 14, at the Half-Bakehouse (if you don't know where it is, ask someone who does!)
The theme has been suggested as 'Masters and Slaves' - make of this what you will!
From 7pm onwards, into the wee hours if possible.
Bring anything you wish to drink, and feel free to bring munchies to add to the fare.
Limited crash space is available, but you'll need to bring bedding as we don't have much.
I think that covers everything. Hope to see many of you there!
