In which I air some random bits of news

japester's journal will gather, we've just had a fantastic long weekend. We had really great company, had some adventures and came back with bucketloads of quality booze :) A highlight for me was Giant's cave, which was the closest I have come so far to a proper caving experience, complete with hardhat, torch, clambering over rocks, climbing up ladders, sliding down slippery surfaces and squeezing through tight spaces. There were some awesome formations to be seen, as well as a rare experience of true darkness, when we turned all our torches off in a central chamber of the cave. For me, there was also some fear-conquering involved as well, which is always cool.
I discovered something about myself recently, as a response to some cases of animal cruelty I came across. Does the fact that I have a much stronger sense of sadness and rage when I see dead puppies, than I would if I saw dead human babies, make me a strange person? I have also begun to come to terms with the fact that if someone deliberately harmed Bosworth, I would consider this enough justification to hurt them severely, perhaps even murder them (but not quickly!) I remember reading a quote from someone not long ago, to the effect that animals are innocent in a way that humans can never be innocent. Perhaps this is why my anger is so inflamed by people who are deliberately cruel to animals.
And on a happier and completely unrelated note, I have discovered tonight that there is a way to make brown rice incredibly tasty - it involves a pinch of salt, a pinch of pepper and a generous sprinkling of paprika, and then serving it with devilled sausages :) Much yumminess.
