There must be about five hundred things I should be doing at the moment, but while my body requires sleep, and my lifestyle requires money, and the getting of money requires me to work, I am plodding through my many other tasks with the speed of a snail that has been sousing in treacle.

Today was one of those days where almost everything was just a little bit annoying. Got to the reception desk late again, owing to late arrival of mail and significant amounts of same; spent most of the morning folding receipts and stuffing them in envelopes, in between answering the phone. Had to train another temp this afternoon, as the afternoon receptionist was ill. Then when I was closing off the mail, the printer packed it in. Just when I thought I was making good time getting out of there. Spent several precious minutes tearing hair out over intractable computer system that wouldn't allow me to print to another printer, then my manager came downstairs and applied the old standard troubleshooting technique of turning the printer off and then on again. And lo, it printed.

Well, I shouldn't complain. The longer I have to hang around, the more I get paid. But I'm not so shamelessly mercenary that I don't worry about taking too much time to do my job...
