And now, another belated movie review...
Watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Sunday night. Was much fun. Having read the book several times in my childhood, I was pleased to see how often they referenced the book directly, in amongst the splashes of 'hipness' and the pop culture references. Glam-rock oompa-loompas - who'd've thunk it?
And Johnny Depp was such a treat - I was prepared to find him disturbing, as I'd been warned that his Willy Wonka was very much like Michael Jackson(!) but he was just delightful. I detected certain similarities to Jim Carrey in The Mask - the odd turn of phrase and inflection - but once I had realised who he reminded me of, I thoroughly enjoyed the character.
And for my next trick... I'm evolving a plan to improve my overall fitness and energy levels. It involves getting up at 5am every morning and taking the Poochmonster for a walk to the Ezy Plus to buy a newspaper, then having a leisurely breakfast while reading said newspaper, then going to work feeling awake, rather than droopy. Tomorrow the trial period for this plan begins. We'll see how I go...
